Everything You Need To Know About Mobile Signal Jammers
In this blog, we aim to
cover all the aspects of a jammer. So let us begin with understanding the
basics: What are Jammers? A jammer is a device that is used to intentionally
block connectivity signals like mobile networks, infrared rays, bluetooth
connectivity, WIFI connectivity, radio signals, etc.
So, we know that jammers
are electronic devices that are used to block signals in order to curb unwanted
communications. Let us further take a look at the list of the places where the
network jammers are used.
Application of the
Jammers:
Prisons: Jammers are installed in prisons to bar the signals of the prisoners using any kind of communication equipments to converse within themselves or the outside world.
Hospitals: Hospitals have areas like the operation theatres, emergency wards, etc. that require utter attention and thus, to avoid distraction via devices, jammers are installed in hospitals.
Defence, Military & Police: The Defence, Military & Police personnel make use of jammers to curb any kind of unwanted communication in the area. The Defence forces make use of military jammers to block IEDs and radio signals.
Classrooms: In order to stop the students from technical cheating, the school board makes use of jammers to disrupt the signals.
Meetings/Conferences: The boards make active use of jammers these days to carry out distraction free meetings and conferences.
Convoy/Vehicles: To protect and secure the VIP movements ,transportation of critical assets and property, often jammers are installed to bar unwanted wireless signals.
It is a great experience
to be able to communicate with anyone at any point of time. The problem arises
when people don’t know where and when to stop talking. The main reason why
places like churches, cinema halls, restaurant, live play theatres have begun
installing jammers in the vicinity. Let us further read to understand how
jammers work.
How does a Mobile Signal Jammer work?
The jamming device
attacks the frequency to which the cellular network is connected and disrupts
the signals to block the communication. Let us understand this better
with a little bit of details.
Jammers transmit a
high-power signal of the same frequency as that of the cell phone, in a way
that both the signals collide and cancel each other out. A majority of the
jammers use this working module for blocking the signals. The low quality devices
have the option of blocking devices of one frequency only. Whereas the
high-quality devices are capable of blocking multiple frequencies at the same
time.
Cell phones being the
full-duplex devices, use two different frequencies; one for receiving the signals
and the other for sending out signals, i.e. one for listening and the other for
talking. There are some basic jammers that only block one of these frequencies.
However, blocking one signal out of the two has the same effect as of blocking
one. This happens because even when one signal is blocked, the cell phone
assumes that there is no service available. Since the mobile needs two
frequencies to function properly, the functioning of the mobile is disrupted.
There are some jammers
that create a new frequency in order to create noise and disturb the cellular
communication. By generating noise on a new frequency the cellular signal is
interrupted.
Components of a Jammer
- Antenna: Jammers come with an attached antenna which is used for transmitting radio signals.
- Voltage-controlled oscillator: It produces the radio signal which overrides the phone signal.
- Tuning circuit: There is a tuning circuit installed in jammers that help in controlling the frequency of the radio signals.
- Noise generator: Produces random noise in a particular frequency range to jam the network.
- RF amplifier: The RF jammer is an extremely important component that does the task of boosting the frequency to a level high enough to jam the network.
- Power supply: As the name suggests, it supplies power to the jamming device.
So, this was all about
jammers. We aimed at covering all the possible dimensions of a jammer.
Beginning from what is a jammer, it’s applications, how a jammer works, and its
components. I hope by now you are well versed with the basics of Jammers.
